Hailey Benedict Releases Christmas Single “Freeze” to Finish off a Successful Year of Music!

From a young age Hailey Benedict fell in love with music and songwriting. She attended her first country music festival at ten years old and fell in love with every aspect of country music.

In 2016, Hailey and her sister went to a Keith Urban concert and ended up on stage! Keith asked Hailey what she wanted to be when she grew up and she answered with “a singer/songwriter,” which inspired Keith to hand Hailey a guitar.

“Next thing I knew I was playing an original song at Rogers Place in Edmonton in front of 20,000 people,” she said.

Hailey started songwriting at nine years old. She chose to sing a song she wrote in social studies class “Clean Slate” when Keith asked her to perform, which ended up being her very first single. The experience Keith gave Hailey inspired her to know that a career in music really is possible.

“I am forever grateful to Keith for the opportunity and it ignited a fire in me that this is what I want to do with the rest of my life,” said Hailey.

As a songwriter Hailey pulls inspiration from books, movies, and personal experiences.

“I have always been inspired by Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran as songwriters who have both said that you have to continuously write and sometimes get through 100 bad songs before you get one good one,” she said.

Hailey Benedict already has many awards under her belt with being awarded 2022 CCMA Interactive Artist of the Year, 2022 Country Music Alberta Horizon Female Artist Of The Year, 2022 CCMA Rising Star nominee, and many more.

“I have been a part of the Alberta Country Music Association since I was 11 and everyone in the association have become family to me and I wouldn’t be where I am without their support, which means the world,” she said.

This past summer Hailey released her single “Damn You July,” which is about feelings of resentment after a breakup. The song can be for any loss of a person in your life and dealing with the feelings and memories afterwards.

Hailey recently released her first Christmas track “Freeze.” Although there are so many great Christmas songs out there she could cover, Hailey wanted to take on the challenge of writing her own.

“The whole song is about spending time with the people you love most around the holidays and for me my favourite part of Christmas every year isn’t the gifts but its the people all around me,” she said.

In the new year Hailey plans to continue writing new music and play live shows. Over the summer Hailey will be busy with many festivals including Big Valley Jamboree, Country Thunder, Rivers ‘n’ Roots Music Festival, and more!

Make sure to listen to her new Christmas song “Freeze” and stay tuned for more updates on Hailey’s music and upcoming shows!

Drake Milligan Reaches Milestone with First #1 Hit Single

Since being a finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent (AGT) in 2022, Drake Milligan has continued to impress fans with his unique traditional country twang and performance quality as he is known to command a stage.

“It is kind of scary but also addictive being on that stage in front of many people especially in the live shows having millions of people watch you,” he said.

AGT was the perfect opportunity for Drake to showcase who he is as a musician and show the world what he has been working on and launch his music to the world.

Drake’s biggest takeaway from the show was being able to put on a performance to that caliber.

After AGT, Drake Milligan released his debut album Dallas/Fort Worth. He wanted the album to show his range as an artist and how every song showed a different side to him as an artist. The album has a mix of everything with sad songs, party songs, western swing, and songs that pay homage to his musical influences.

Drake moved to Nashville in 2017 and started writing songs for the album, which made it about a four year process putting Dallas/Fort Worth together.

“Dance of a Lifetime” is a favourite of his off the album and has become a very special song for him and dedicated fans, who have used the song for their first dance.

Drake Milligan recently reached a huge milestone with his first #1 song on his collaboration with country duo The Reklaws, “Honky Tonkin’ About.”

“It feels amazing, that is my first number one ever and to have it with the Reklaws, who I became fast friends with is great,” he said.

Drake Milligan is on his first headlining Canadian tour making stops in Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Calgary.

“I am looking forward to seeing new people and places and have some fun in Canada,”

Drake Milligan has already achieved so much success in his career with over 60 million streams globally and 6.5 million streams in Canada alone and is currently working on new music, adding new dates for live shows in the new year, and is keeping up the momentum!

Tim & The Glory Boys released a deluxe version of their debut album, which included some acoustic tracks. One of the songs they released an acoustic version of was a song they did with The Roadhammers, “Roll This Stone”.

Dan Davidson Headlines Nineteen Eighty Something Tour

Dan Davidson started his music career in a rock band, Tupelo Honey, where he opened up for Bon Jovi, Billy Talent, Shinedown, and many others!

After the incredible start into music he had with Tupelo Honey, Dan decided to pursue a solo career and found his way to country music.

In 2016, Dan released his hit single “Found”, which is now Platinum in Canada.

The song “Found” is a fun mix between “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” and “Honey I’m Good” with an upbeat country sound.

“I just wrote it stomping and clapping without a guitar in hand and wrote it in about an hour and a half with Clayton Bellamy from The Roadhammers.”

Dan Davidson recently released his brand-new single “He Met a Girl”, which is about a dad speaking to his new baby daughter. The song is delivered in a way where it is bright, fun, and nostalgic and still has a Dan Davidson style to it.

Dan is heading out on his first headlining tour “The Nineteen Eighty Something Tour,” with Canadian stops including Winnipeg, MB at The Park Theatre on November 29, 2023.

In Winnipeg Dan will be joined by local country artist Kendra Kay who is opening up the show.

“It’s so cool to bring in a local artist from each market and have that connection to local country fans,” he said.

At a Dan Davidson show you can expect a high energy, fun show with lots of surprises!

The whole tour is in support of his new album “Nineteen Eighty Something” which is out now!

Karli June Releases “Feel Like Home” with Ryan Langdon!

Karli June is one of Canada’s leading country music artists with three CMAOntario Nominations in 2023 for “Rising Star”, “Album of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year!”

Karli grew up on a dairy farm where music was always playing out in the barn, where she fell in love with music.

“I knew I loved music from a really young age and just had that inner knowing that it was what I was supposed to do with my life,” she said.

Rogers Media recently named Karli the “One To Watch” with her most recent single featuring Ryan Langdon, “Feel Like Home” and in heavy rotation across the Rogers Country stations in Canada.

“My hometown means a ton to me – and the song is about finding somebody that feels like coming back to where you’re from,” she said.

When looking for a male artist to collaborate with, Ryan Langdon’s name came up between Karli and her manager. Ryan loved the song when he heard it and his voice was a perfect fit for the collab!

Karli said the the song sounds like it was written exactly for him!

In 2022, Karli released her debut EP Where You Came From, which touches on many things that make her who she is, including her small town roots, ups and downs of life, faith, and of course her fun side.

“I wanted to have all of those elements as part of my first EP and really tell the story of who I am as a person and artist. We recorded it throughout the pandemic with Karen Kosowski,” she said.

Out of Karli’s releases so far, “Feel Like Home” has been her favourite.

“I love the energy of it and seeing what it means to the listeners,” she said.

Nate Haller is Ready to Party with Debut Album “Party In the Back!”

Music is not a new environment for CCMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year nominee, Nate Haller. At the age of 17-years old Nate started playing many different types of music. At the time he was playing guitar for Canadian country artist, Kira Isabella. Nate wasn’t too familiar with guitar at first, but had the opportunity to learn with Kira’s music and ended up playing with her for six or seven years.

As he continued to play for Kira Isabella, he was introduced to The Reklaws and started playing guitar for them. While playing for other artists, Nate started writing his own music. With the pandemic putting live shows on hold, he had time to launch his own music career as a solo artist.

Nate Haller released his debut album Party In the Back in November of 2022. As he was putting the album together he was living in a house with Stu from The Reklaws and their music director who Nate worked on the record a lot with.

“That record is really special to me and I am proud of the whole album,” he said.

The tone of the album is fun and high energy, which is also what Nate wants to bring into his live shows.

“I want people to forget what might be going on in their lives and have fun at a country show,” he said.

On his debut album, Nate released a track with The Reklaws and Brett Kissel called “Somewhere To Drink,” which was such a fun experience for him, especially while filming the music video with everyone.

Nate Haller was a 2023 CCMA Breakthrough Artist of the Year nominee this year with his first nomination.

“To be nominated for anything at the CCMA’s is an honour,” he said.

Nate is currently working on new music and is keeping busy playing shows.

“I’m really excited for people to hear the next chapter of my music,” he said.

Make sure to listen to Party In the Back and follow Nate Haller on Instagram at “imthehaller” to stay up to date on his shows and new music!

Emily Reid is Set to Release Self-Written and Self-Produced EP!

At 17-years old Emily Reid was exposed to the songwriting community when she moved to Nashville. Shortly after, she moved to Toronto and immersed herself in the Canadian country music scene and her music career took off from there.

Emily recently released a new single “First Impressions,” which is a self-written and self-produced song. The song came from her experience in the music industry so far being a label and feeling pressured and misrepresented.

“It was my fault being a young women, very impressionable and feeling like I was showing up at events not being 100% myself,” she said.

During COVID, Emily sat down and the song poured out of her in 30 minutes. She made a demo and realized this song is really true to her and decided to produce the song herself as well.

“Part of the story is handing your power over to other people and I thought it would be really meaningful to produce it myself and not hand over the keys to someone else. If I am going to make a second first impression i want it to be 100% me, my story, and sound,” she said.

“First Impressions” is the first song Emily released that she wrote 100% by herself since 2015 and is her first self-produced song ever. Following “First Impressions” Emily self-produced her entire upcoming EP and has worked on production for other artists as well.

“It feels like an underrepresented space for women and is a space I want to confidently step into and there was no better way to do it for myself first,” she said.

Standout lyrics from “First Impressions” are:
“And my skirts got shorter and my lashes longer
And my waist got thinner and my defenses stronger
And the hardest part of the lesson
Is you can’t make a second first impression
And it wasn’t even me who was making”

Emily Reid’s upcoming EP coming out September 8th is composed of four songs all 100% written and produced by her. It is a dear diary story with different experiences that are intimate and vulnerable with a look into her heart during the last few years of her twenties. There are themes of love, being misrepresented, and misunderstood and getting her feet back on the ground and standing in her own truth.

Her next single from her upcoming EP “Kyle’s Wife” came out August 18. This song is about being introduced at a party as someone’s spouse instead of your own name. The songs shares the important message that when you are married you are not someones property and you keep your own identity.

Although Emily has written many incredible songs for herself, she also shares her songwriting talents with other artists including the song “Boys” recorded by Dean Brody and Mickey Guyton.

Emily originally recorded the song for herself but realized it would be such a powerful message to come from a man. Dean Brody loved it and got Mickey Guyton on it, which was her first number one.

Lyrics from “Boys”:
“Cause they don’t know the difference
Between real love and one night
A good girl and a good time
Between all the way and just taking it slow
Between one more shot on a Friday
And one knee down, baby one day
Between holding her and never letting go
That’s the difference between a man and boys”

“Dean singing it melts and breaks my heart because it’s a stronger message coming from a man because they’ve experienced these things and I was unbelievably grateful for the opportunity,” she said.

Emily is releasing music with such empowering and powerful messaging for everyone to relate or learn from. Make sure to listen to “First Impressions,” “Kyle’s Wife,” and her upcoming EP out September 8!

Alee Releases New Single “Ain’t For The Beer”!

Canadian country music artist Alee is a CCMA Rising Star Nominee, whose debut full length album “Bad Habit” received over 3.5 million streams on Spotify, and had a #1 single “Moonshine” on Canadian country radio.

Alee recently released her new collaboration with Troy Cartwright “Aint For The Beer,” which is the first song she wrote in 2023. The song is about meeting new people that interest you in the oddest of places… like a Monday night in a bar.

Alee has been friends with Troy for awhile now. In 2020 she got a call to collaborate on one of his songs. The collab was exciting to her because their voices meshed so well together and knew she wanted him on one of her songs.

Once she started writing “Ain’t For The Beer” she decided to write the second verse specifically for Troy and hope he would agree to record it.

From day one Alee has always been immersed in country music and writing her own songs. “I think its easier to cut a song you’ve written because you know its coming from the heart.” she said.

Earlier this year, Alee released another single “Better With You,” which is a song she wanted to have a fun and lighthearted tone.

“I am a big fan of a good heartbreak song and I love being able to feel something and when it comes to heartbreak everyone can relate in some way whether it be from a relationship or not,” she explained.

On this album she is working with music producer, Eric Arjes, who encouraged her to write step out of the heartbreak songwriting and write happy songs that match her personality.

“I was so happy to have someone help guide me on this album and it has been very fun to push myself and do something different.”

After looking at photos of her friends and family the song idea came to her that it doesn’t matter where you are or how you feel you always feel better around the people you love and that is what “Better With You” is all about.

A song of hers that has always stuck out as a favourite is “Moonshine” which was released in 2015. That was a song she wrote for her grandpa who is the reason she got into country music because he would always pull out his guitar and play country classics.

“Moonshine was a song to honour him and the person and storyteller he was and I still think of him every time I play it,” she said.

make sure to check out Alee’s music on all streaming platforms and her new collab with Troy Cartwright “Ain’t For The Beer!”

Emma Peterson Releases Summer Hit “Got It Back”

In just one month, Emma Peterson achieved an incredible milestone with over 50,000 streams and 10,000 music video views for her latest single “Got It Back”!

“Got It Back” was pitched to Emma by her producer David Thomson, who wrote the song along with very talented songwriters in Nashville. As a songwriter, Emma gets nervous recording songs she didn’t write because authenticity is a crucial part of writing and recording music for her and she ended up sitting on the song for about a year. It is important for Emma to feel like she can connect to a song and make sure it aligns with her values before recording it.

“Got It Back” is about finding your confidence and getting independence back after a relationship where you lost pieces of yourself.

“It is a very empowering song, which is what made me want to record it in the end,” she said.

Emma recently released the music video for “Got It Back,” which received over 10,000 views in one month! The video follows the theme of finding your independence and gaining confidence with your friends around you.

The release of “Got It Back” starts a new chapter for Emma and acts as a bridge to the next era of her music career. Although she is unsure what this new era looks like, she is recording lot’s of new music and is excited for what’s to come!

Over the years of releasing music, Emma feels she has developed as a songwriter, person, and women while figuring out what direction she wants her music to head into. She is influenced by all genres of music, which you can hear in pieces of her music. Although “Got It Back” does have a country pop sound to it, you can still hear the classic country sounds going back to her roots.

Emma is excited when she get’s the opportunity to person “Got It Back” live because she is so confident and proud of the song.

She just wrapped up her first ever arena performance for the World Police Fire and Ice Games and Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, MB and is excited for more upcoming performances.

Make sure to stream “Got It Back” — a new summer hit you won’t be able to get out of your head!
