Irvin Miller Brings Unique Individuality to his Debut Double Single

At only 22, Irvin Miller is quickly emerging as one of Manitoba’s most-exciting new artists. Blending classic influences like blues, funk, country and gospel, he brings a level of songwriting maturity well beyond his years. With a soulful voice and effortless stage presence, Irvin is establishing himself as one of Western Canada’s stand-out rising talents.

Growing up, many of Miller’s favourite country artists were known for having a sound that was entirely their own – something he has always gravitated toward. That individuality continues to shape his approach to music today. No matter the song or setting, Miller strives to make everything his own, leaving audiences with a show they’ll remember.

Miller recently released his debut double single, “I’m Drunk Again” and “Horsepower.” “I’m Drunk Again” draws from the blues and the feeling of being down on your luck – when one beer turns into a long (and sometimes embarrassing) night out that many listeners can relate to.

“I thought it would be fun to write a tune that unifies us all in that low moment we have all experienced,” Miller explained.

Both tracks showcase Miller’s signature blend of blues, funk, country, and soul – an intentional balance that reflects his goal to experiment and avoid being boxed into a single genre.

“Horsepower” came to life when Miller and his band entered the studio and fully leaned into their collective creativity. The track evolved naturally, shaped by the energy and talent of the musicians involved.

Miller credits his incredible collaborators for helping bring the songs to life, including Anton Uruski, Luke Paul, Tyler Martens, Cody Lane, Cauê Vieira Pinto, Jordie Ouellet, Emily Eleanora and Riley Hill.

As his debut releases, Miller wanted the singles to be energetic and disruptive – tracks that would make people stop what they’re doing and truly listen. His goal was to introduce a new generation of music that embraces diversity of sound, prioritizes fun and refuses to be confined by genre expectations.

In November, Miller attended his first Manitoba Country Music Awards, where he was
nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year. Being included in the awards was a “pinch-me” moment and reconnecting with friends while meeting so many inspiring performers made the night especially meaningful.

“It was an evening that will stay with me forever and I am very lucky,” he said.

Miller has also been keeping busy on stage, including a performance at the 2025 Grey Cup Festival. He approached the opportunity with the same mindset as his debut recordings – wanting the audience to pause, put their drinks down and fully invest in the performance.

“Putting our small thumbprint on the whole operation was nothing short of a privilege,” he said.

Looking ahead, Miller is gearing up for a packed schedule, including a headlining show at the Winter Blues Festival on January 31 and a performance at Festival du Voyageur on Saturday, February 21. He’ll also be settling into a three-month residency at Times Changed High and Lonesome Club this spring, with many summer festival dates to be announced soon.

New music is also on the horizon, as Miller is currently working on a full-length album. No matter the form – writing, recording or performing – if there’s a way to make music, Irvin Miller will find it.
