Annika Catherina celebrates her first single of 2024 “What If I.” Since the release of the song she has gained support by being added to Spotify editorial playlists, “New Music Friday Country,” “North Country,” “RADARCanada,” “Equal Canada,” and “Country Frontier.”
Annika loved the feeling of performing since she was young and was introduced to country music greats such as Etta James.
“I remember when I heard “I’d Rather Go Blind” for the first time and I felt like I related to the song even though I was so young, but the way she sang the song I knew I wanted to do that,” she said.
Annika started writing music around the time of the COVID-19 pandemic and posted covers on social media. During that time a DJ reached out to her asking if she wanted to write lyrics to a melody and she had so much fun with that opportunity.
It wasn’t until 2023 when Annika Catharina released her own music.
“I am very new to the releasing process and have learned a lot in this past year,” she said.
Annika Catharina recently released her new single “What If I” and wanted to be a part of the song from the moment she heard it.
“Everyone has that situation where you’re hoping a friendship can be something more, and the song is about asking the question, ‘what if we went for it?'” she said.
Annika wanted to start 2024 off on a positive note and thought releasing “What If I” was a great way to do that with its positive and upbeat feel to it.
Annika is preparing for another single release this spring, which is a release she is really looking forward to!
“I can usually tell right away if I am connected to a song and with this one I knew instantly I had to record it,” she said.
A goal for Annika moving forward in her music career is to keep recording, writing, and releasing music and play music for as many people as possible.
