Kalsey Kulyk is a Canadian country music artist from Hudson Bay, SK, now based in Beaumont, AB. Kalsey started singing at three years old and grew up in a very musical family where music was instilled in her at a young age. At three years old, Kalsey got up on stage at a talent show and sang “What Part of No” by Lorrie Morgan and got the music bug since then. After that experience, she took part in hundreds of talent shows and competitions and won her first songwriting competition at age 13.
In high school, everything took a different turn when Kalsey received a cancer diagnosis. Rather than putting her dreams on hold, her path to recovery became a source of inspiration for songwriting, reinforcing Kulyk’s commitment to pursuing a career in music.
“I realized what is life unless you are doing what you love every single day,” she said.
On her day of remission after chemotherapy she decided she was going to pursue music for the rest of her life.
In the summer of 2023 Kulyk released her latest single “Love Me Like An Outlaw.”
Kulyk wrote this song back in 2018 but had the title saved for a while. She is not used to writing love songs but at the time she just started dating her now husband and was in a love song mood. “Love Me Like An Outlaw” is about loving a person with all you have.
“Love Me Like An Outlaw” recently reached a huge milestone by making the top 20 on Canadian Country Radio.
This was a song Kulyk felt very confident in the fact that she knew she had to record it and stayed true to who she is as an artist with the song and production.
“It’s very cool that people are loving a song that I have loved since 2018 and to have this success with it is mind blowing and I am super grateful for the support from Canadian country radio,” she said.
For the last two weeks Kulyk was the only solo female in the top 20 chart as well.
Kulyk released a music video for “Love Me Like An Outlaw,” which was shot by her and her husband Eric Ethridge.
The video was shot at a ranch just outside of Edmonton, Alberta, which helped portray the Yellowstone/outlaw feel of the song.
The video has hit over 50,000 views and continues to reach more audiences and country music fans.
Kulyk is gearing up for a very busy 2024 with lots of live shows and a brand new record coming out next month.
She started recording the album in the beginning of 2022 but the initial process started in 2021. There are a lot of songs she loves on it that have been on her list of songs she has been wanting to share with everyone for awhile.
