Jason Kirkness is a distinguished figure in the country music scene and hails from the small farming community of Kleefeld, Manitoba. Over the years, Kirkness has built an impressive career, marked by numerous accolades and high-profile performances. In 2023, he clinched the Male Artist of the Year award at the Manitoba Country Music Association awards, further solidifying his status in the industry.
His latest album, What Got Me Here, features the standout single “Anywhere The Night Goes,” which enjoyed an impressive 18-week run on the Canadian Country Top 40 and secured a spot on the U.S. Billboard Indicator chart. With over 1.2 million streams, the album also includes fan favourites like “Right Where I Want You,” “What’s Wrong With Me “and his current single “What Got Me Here.”

When he found himself with a large, unused space, Kirkness had a vision: to transform it into something that could give back to the community. That idea became Rehearsal Space—a podcast and creative hub where Kirkness sits down with friends, musicians and local creatives to talk about their journeys and shine a spotlight on Manitoba’s homegrown talent.
“It’s been great to get to know people, their art and their music – and to provide a venue for them to share their stories,” he said.
So far, Kirkness has featured conversations with fellow MCMA artists, local producers, business leaders and longtime friends from outside the music industry—each bringing their unique stories to the table.
But Rehearsal Space is more than just a podcast. It’s also a functional performance venue and rehearsal room, complete with festival-level lighting, PA systems and plenty of room to practice. Jason has opened the space to local musicians, encouraging MCMA artists and others to use it and have Rehearsal Space become its own community.
